Playa de Pesca ("we", "us", "our") is a beachside hotel in Mal País, Puntarenas, Costa Rica. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect when you visit playadepescacostarica.com, contact us or book a stay, how we use it, and the choices you have.

Booking information: name, email, phone number, country, travel dates, number of guests, special requests and payment details. Bookings are processed through our reservation system, Cloudbeds.
Information you send us: anything you share by email, WhatsApp, contact forms or social media, such as questions, group or event details.
Guest registration: on arrival we may ask for an ID or passport, as required for hotels under Costa Rican law.
Website usage data: pages visited, device and browser type, approximate location and how you arrived at our site, collected through cookies and similar technologies (see section 5).

3. How we use your information

To confirm, manage and prepare your reservation and stay.
To arrange activities you request, such as fishing charters, diving, surf or SUP sessions.
To reply to your questions and requests.
To meet legal, tax and accounting obligations.
To understand how visitors use our website so we can improve it.

4. Who we share it with

We share information only when needed to run the hotel and provide your stay:

Cloudbeds – our booking and reservation system.
Payment processors – to handle card payments securely. We do not store full card numbers on our website.
Activity partners – local tour, charter or dive operators, only the details needed to book what you asked for.
Google – website analytics (Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager).
Our website host – Hostinger.
Authorities – when required by law.

Some of these providers store data outside Costa Rica (for example in the United States or the European Union). They are required to protect it.

5. Cookies and analytics

Our website uses cookies – small files stored in your browser – to work properly and to measure visits with Google Analytics. Analytics data is collected in aggregate and helps us see which pages are useful. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and you can opt out of Google Analytics with the Google Analytics opt-out add-on. Blocking cookies may affect some features, such as the booking engine.

6. How long we keep it

We keep booking and guest records for as long as needed for your stay and to meet legal, tax and accounting requirements. Messages and enquiries are kept as long as needed to respond and follow up. Analytics data is kept according to Google Analytics retention settings.

7. How we protect it

Our website uses a secure connection (HTTPS). Access to guest information is limited to staff and providers who need it. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.

8. Your rights

Under Costa Rica's Law No. 8968 on the Protection of Persons Regarding the Processing of their Personal Data – and, for visitors from the European Union or elsewhere, under your local laws – you can ask us to:

access the personal information we hold about you;
correct it if it is wrong;
delete it, where we are not legally required to keep it;
stop using it for marketing.

9. Children

Our website is not aimed at children. Bookings must be made by an adult. Information about children travelling with a guest is used only to arrange the stay.

10. Links to other websites

Our site links to other services such as Cloudbeds, WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook and YouTube. Their own privacy policies apply when you use them.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be on this page, with the date at the top.
